House Style

We are based in Surrey in the south of England and so it seemed correct, right from the early days when we were the only brewery in the County, to brew in the style of the area. That style is based on the local water and the barley and hops which were grown all around. We have taken these materials together with an appropriate yeast strain and fashioned beers which are soft on the palate and gently hopped. On occasion we go "off-piste", so to speak, and brew something radically away from the house style style...our wheatbeer Springbock was a good example of that together with the newer Templar where we changed everything including the yeast.

Overall we are trying to create a variety of interesting beers with refined flavours, great clarity, good head retention and excellent carbonation.

If you look at beers as they would have been brewed, say, 100 years ago there would be similarities in style but the different malts and our much greater understanding, nowadays, of bacterial infections means our beers not only taste different but taste better and have a much longer shelf life.

So, as an old sage might say, "beer ain't the same as 'twas"...we say... Thank goodness!

If you feel rough the next morning don't blame the beer!!!
